Evaluation Of Level 4 and 5 Officials

This article appeared in the July 1999 edition of "Off the Blocks" and was written by Paul Jenkins:

There appears to be some confusion as to the process for evaluating officials for Level 4 and 5.

All evaluations for Level 4 must be approved through the Regional Officials Directors. He/she is the sole authority for ensuring this is completed. Thus any recommendations for upgrading from the Club Officials Director must be made to the ROD for processing, If the ROD concurs, he/she will either carry out the evaluation themselves or arrange for a Master Official to carry out this function. The names of the successful candidates will be forwarded to the Provincial Officials Director for record purposes.

Evaluations for Level V (Master Officials) will be forwarded to the POD following recommendation from the ROD only. Individuals seeking upgrading must receive approval from their ROD first. The POD will then carry out a similar procedure for the Level V candidate.

This procedure must be followed to ensure officiating in British Columbia continues to be second to none and no elected officials is kept out of the evaluating process.
